“Travel around giving exhibitions of flying and performing aeronautical stunts.”
Barnstorming Brisbane is a hands on aviation experience over Brisbane City. Step back in time as you pilot a vintage aeroplane (guided by a flight instructor) past the City Skyline and weaving back by the banks of the Brisbane River.
Your experience will start by passing through the stunning Archerfield Jet Base (the original Qantas operational building). There you will be able to soak in the rich history of the building by viewing the many stories and photos on the walls. Do this while enjoying light refreshments including coffee and tea. After signing in your flight instructor will give you a briefing on how to pilot the aeroplane and important safety information. From there you’ll jump on board the fully restored Bellanca Champ. The Champ design first flew in 1944, training veterans returning from World War ll and at the time held the record for greatest production volume of general aviation aircraft (up to 50/ day!).
Your flight will depart Archerfield Airport tracking north, passing over the inner city suburbs of Kangaroo Point and South Bank. Shortly thereafter you will fly by the stunning Brisbane City Skyline for an adrenaline filled ride back by the banks of the Brisbane River. Weaving south along the river you’ll pass by the grounds of the University of Queensland and Indooroopilly Golf Course, touching down at Archerfield Aiport. There you will be able to view your flight video and relax in the comfort of the Jet Base with further refreshments.
Let’s go Barnstorming Brisbane!
